The Immisceo Series

Immisceo

 Latin for: mix in, blend…

It’s a bit like the world as you might know it, only there is magic… Is it wise to revere such a thing? Is it only for the elite? Why is it only for the elite? Why do those without it suffer?

And why is there a law against those without it mixing with those who possess it?

The Immisceo Series follows Luciana Blaknall, a mind witch who is chosen by the Duciti to create a weapon to defeat the Outcasts, led by the ruthless mimic, Amara Denis.

History

With magic as the highest form of power, and those with magic in authority, non-magic humans rank generally low in society, but even within the vast community of witches there is discrimination. Witches of the world were all once gifted in magic of both the mind and of the elements. Their power came to be known as Immisceo magic, meaning mixed, and in this case, dual. So strong are these abilities, that Nature herself enforced a limit. Those born with both strains of power would face twice as many limitations, able to use only a fraction of their magic without fatal consequences. Other unions gave birth to magicless witches, possessing the capacity for dual magic but born bereft of power, eventually known as mimics.

This was the way of the world but as time passed, witches in authority sought greater control of their people, imposing a barbaric law and weeding out the dual magic—separating Mind from Energy in a divide that swallowed families, crumbled cities, and began a decades-long revolt against the Leaders of the world. Thus, the covens of Nosiras were formed.

Mensveni Witches possess Mind magic.

They might have the ability to enter another person’s mind and access memories or dreams, manipulate memories, plant visions, or abuse—causing pain, loss of consciousness, even death; they might also have the power of telekinesis — the ability to control, manipulate, or move matter using the mind.

Visveni Witches possess Energy magic.

They might have the power of absorption — the ability to draw power from energy sources, and/or conversion allowing them to convert or manipulate one element into another to wield as a weapon, or into something else entirely, like physical strength.

The Duciti are also known as the six.

‘The Six’ lead the region, made up of three witches from each coven, preselected by birth right and power. They are skilled and strong in all abilities with the exception of the extremely rare power of Bestowal.
