Immisceo Undone

Book Two in The Immisceo Series

Invincibility is merely an illusion…

After the night that shattered her world, Luciana is bound to a dangerous new source of Immisceo power. She has one purpose left: destroy the Mimic who destroyed her life—no matter the cost.

But Immisceo power is not a gift.

It is a beacon.

To tyrants. To covens. To the Duciti.

Luciana isn’t just a woman to hunt.

She is a weapon to claim.

Grief overrides fear.

Power overshadows weakness.

And she thinks she has nothing left to lose.

She’s wrong.

No magic grants invincibility.

And trust… costs far more than power ever will.

Power does not save you.

It only changes what you can destroy.

Available soon…

A wooden lay figure with strings attached to raised arms representing being controlled with a quote from Immisceo Taken by Shona Clingham. The quote reads: Her options were nothing more than illusions. There would be no running, she realised. Only dancing. And the Duciti were the ones pulling the strings. (From Chapter Two)

A dark, looming tower representing Greyfall Tower on a dark background with dim light behind it and a quote from Immisceo Taken by Shona Clingham. The quote reads: The tower loomed above them, growing, casting its cold shadow over them all as they drew closer. Tangled ropes of green ivy blanketed one side of the tower, blackened in places—carved deep into the mottled stone like scars. (From Chapter Four)

A semi cloudy night sky with a full moon and with a quote from Immisceo Taken by Shona Clingham. The quote reads: No matter how bleak and black her existence became, the familiar sight of the moon restored something within her, small as it was—like tiny fluttering wings of flame beating back the darkness. (From Chapter Seven)

A forest scene with fog and a quote from Immisceo Taken by Shona Clingham. The quote reads: ‘So, we follow orders blindly now? Like sheep? Admit it, Garrett, this is too far. Even for her.’ The whispering stopped for a moment and Nate prepared to run. Then Garrett spoke. ‘She has her reasons.’ ‘None that we’ve heard of,’ came the first voice. ‘She has her reasons for that, too.’ (From Chapter Five)

A close up shot of some wood and the beginnings of a fire with a quote from Immisceo Taken by Shona Clingham. The quote reads: ‘Run,’ her father cried. A solitary tear streaked down his cheek, glistening in the light of the fire. ‘Go,’ he pleaded. She cast long looks at both her parents. A tight ache blossomed in her chest as the fire began to roar in earnest behind her. ‘I’m so sorry,’ she said. Then she slipped around her mother for the last time and ran. She hurtled to the base of the pyre, hidden in the curtain of smoke. Her breath came quick and heavy as she pelted toward the thicket of trees on the other side of the clearing. She didn’t dare look back. The final cries of her parents echoed in Amara’s ears as she ran. And they would continue to echo for a long time to come. (From Prologue)

An interior with white panelled walls and grey tiles, a doorway and light cast through an unseen window on the right with a quote from Immisceo Taken by Shona Clingham. The quote reads: ‘No more antics, Nathaniel. Please—just leave.’ ‘Just like that?’ Nate said, his words at odds with his expression. Garrett shrugged, looking for the first time like his much younger brother. ‘I can’t protect a corpse, can I?’ (From Chapter Seventeen)

A close up shot of a circular drain grate with a quote from Immisceo Taken by Shona Clingham. The quote reads: ‘Must we always argue?’ ‘Not at all,’ Nate said, his expression serene. ‘Just do it my way for once.’ Luciana’s nostrils flared as she glowered at him. ‘Fine. If you flaming well die, I’ll…’ ‘Build a statue in my honour?’ (From Chapter Twenty)

Dark blue background with blue and white lightning with a quote from Immisceo Taken by Shona Clingham. The quote reads: ‘We all know pain,’ Nate said. ‘It becomes a part of us… But it doesn't define us.’ (From Chapter Eighteen)

Purple and pink gradient sky with starlight with a quote from Immisceo Taken by Shona Clingham. The quote reads: ‘You fail to acknowledge just how amazing you actually are. I would happily spend the rest of my days trying to make you see yourself the way I do.’ (From Chapter Eighteen)

Dark grey background and a cropped image of a white lily on the right and a quote from Immisceo Taken by Shona Clingham. The quote reads: ‘Let me.’ She hesitated, giddy with the weight of his words. Could she give herself so easily to another man? Could she trust him? He had saved her life… And every opportunity he’d had to walk away from her, he’d surprised them both and stayed. (From Chapter Eighteen)

Sweeping sky scape with sunrise colours with a quote from Immisceo Taken by Shona Clingham. The quote reads: It was more real than anything she’d ever imagined, and she clung to that in the same way that the sky clung to the earth. (From Chapter Nineteen)

More About the Series

With magic as the highest form of power, and those with magic in authority, non-magic humans rank generally low in society, but even within the vast community of witches there is discrimination. Witches of the world were all once gifted in magic of both the mind and of the elements. Their power came to be known as Immisceo magic, meaning mixed, and in this case, dual. So strong are these abilities, that Nature herself enforced a limit. Those born with both strains of power would face twice as many limitations, able to use only a fraction of their magic without fatal consequences. Other unions gave birth to magicless witches, possessing the capacity for dual magic but born bereft of power, eventually known as mimics.
